Fishing
Maldives is one of the few countries that have banned trawling with net and long-line fishing. This allows the marine ecosystem a sustainable growth and abundance of fish. The healthy reefs harbor various game fish species that are popular such as Giant Trevally, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Sailfish and Marlin.
Jigging
One of the most popular styles of fishing which is sure to give a good work out, jigging is at the same time rewarding. Most common catches are various Trevally jacks, Snappers, and groupers, and the trophy catches are the Yellowfin and the Dogtooth Tune.
Popping
Cast the poppers in the picturesque lagoons and reefs with breathtaking views of the sunset. Numerous reefs and lagoons are perfect to catch a grand GT.
Trolling
Cruise the amazing seas of the Maldives along the beautiful islands while trolling for the magnificent Wahoo, sailfish and the Marlin. Along the way see schools of Dolphins enjoying freely in the Maldivian waters.
Pole & Line Fishing
“Pole and line” is a traditional fishing method, which is both socially and environmentally responsible. Requiring just one hook, one line and one fisherman, fish are caught one at a time. The result is a wide variety of environmental and socio-economic benefits, including high employment, zero bycatch and a more sustainable haul of tuna – one of the worlds’s most widely eaten fish.
